My Gut Friendly Smoothie

Your microbiota, your gut bacteria, gut symbiosis, these are all different terms for the same thing. Keep your gut bacteria in balance is important to keeping your body healthy. It should be your top priority. Our gut regulates mood and behavior, regulates immunity function, modulates digestive hormone release and it completely depends on what you are asking it to digest, including stress.

There are simple ways to keep your microbiota happy. I begin my day with a smoothie. Keep daily variety in mind and your gut microbiota will remain happy. Think "high fiber" and "rainbow colors" of fruit and vegetables when creating a smoothie. In fact, all your meals should include a wide variety of fresh fruits and veggies.

●Ground flax - high in fiber and has a mucosal effect in the gut ●Kefir or water kefir - contains diverse unique bacteria strains different from yogurt ●Coconut yogurt - high in beneficial bacteria ●Berries - tasty, high in healthy fiber and antioxidants ●Flax seed oil - for its ability to help lubricate the intestinal tract ●Cinnamon - for its blood sugar stabilizing effects ●Banana - for its prebiotic power

Put these together and you’ve got yourself a super powerful smoothie.
